About the Bureau
AI Slop Seal is a parody. The Bureau of Slop Standards does not exist, and the Chief Inspector is a seal.
What the grade means
For texts, the grade counts well known stylistic tells of machine generated writing (em dashes, "delve", "It's not X, it's Y", emoji bullet points and similar) and weighs them by how densely they appear.
For images, the browser reads the file's metadata (Content Credentials, generator parameters, software names, camera information), its dimensions and a few colour and texture statistics, and the person submitting it ticks the visual tells they can see.
Either way it is a joke with arithmetic, not a detector. It cannot tell whether something was made by a person or by a model, and it must not be used to judge anyone's work.
What is stored
Texts and images are analysed inside the browser and are never sent to the server. When a certificate is filed, the server stores the type of specimen, the word count for texts, which tells appeared and how many times, the grade, whether the author ticked "I wrote this myself" or "I made this myself", and the date.
To prevent abuse, requests are counted per connection for one hour using a salted hash of the network address. The address itself is not stored. The site sets no cookies and uses no third party analytics or trackers.
Withdrawing a certificate
Every certificate page has a "Report this certificate" link. Using it withdraws the certificate immediately: its page, card image and badge stop being served.
